Stay safe from gas leakages

A gas explosion occurred in a residential home at Taiwan a few days ago (http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/toddler-killed-13-wounded/1314628.html). Gas explosions usually result from a gas leak in the presence of an ignition source and could be fatal depending on the extent of the explosion.

We would like to advice consumers to stay safe with the following tips:
• Use only registered LPG regulators and rubber hoses affixed with the Safety Mark regulated by SPRING Singapore.
• Ensure that the LPG hose is securely connected to the gas cooker and the LPG regulator. Do not over-tighten the LPG hose with a clip or clamp.
• Ensure that the LPG regulator is firmly connected to the cylinder.
• Turn off the LPG regulator after use.
• Check regularly for gas leakage by coating the hose with soap solution. If soap bubbles foam, this indicates gas leakage.
• Replace the LPG hose after two years of usage and change the regulator after five years of usage.
• Do not leave the gas cooker unattended while cooking and ensure that the area is well-ventilated and the windows are open.
• Do not place any flammable objects near the flame or expose the LPG gas system to direct sunlight or rain.
