Beware of Improper Swiping of Credit Cards

CASE has received complaints of retailers swiping consumers’ credit cards for inappropriate purchase amounts which are higher than what the consumers had originally agreed with their retailers.

This is not an allowed practice. Consumers should ensure that retailers do not have the opportunity to swipe their credit cards for an inflated amount without their consent or knowledge. Should such situations occur, consumers should immediately demand that the retailer void their card transactions. Failing which, consumers may seek redress with their card issuing banks to initiate a charge-back via the dispute resolution process.
